At Warner Vineyard grapes are hand picked from vines grown in decomposed granite soils which allow the vines to naturally manage their yield to ensure optimum fruit quality. Our fruit is keenly sought by renowned winemakers however we keep the best fruit for our own wines using our knowledge of our vineyard to select the best rows. Our aim is always to produce straight varietals, however in some years we take the opportunity to produce white blends of either Roussanne Marsanne or Marsanne Chardonnay. These wines are designed as ‘alternative’ wines and something where we can experiment and explore different approaches.
"Bright yellow colour - a healthy lustre to it. Fresh apricots, white nectarines, vanilla and lemon curd - lovely, fruited aromatics. The theme continues on the palate - balanced and ripe, cured lemons, toasty oak and apricots, with just-picked acidity. A lovely wine" Nick Buttler, The Real Review 94 points
| "Blend of 60/40% Roussanne/Marsanne barrel-fermented with indigenous yeast followed by 11 months in older oak, the Roussanne aged on lees. Medium gold colour, cloudy with lees influence evident in nutty, honey, oatmeal, apple and dried-figs notes. An aged, complex yet lo-fi kind of wine, chewy and textural. Lingering Marsanne-led honeysuckle finish brings a touch of class." Wine Companion 90 Points |
Complex and inviting, the bouquet shows apple pie, dried apricot, potpourri and a hint of honey notes, leading to a beautifully rounded palate offering supple texture and crisp acidity, finishing balanced and lingering. At its best: now to 2028. Sam King, Wine Orbit 92 Points
